A Preference for Ps: Porters, Pickerings and other families in Staffordshire, Shropshire, Derbyshire, Liverpool and Kansas
Pam Griffiths
I chose this title: 'A Preference for 'P's' as so many names in this book begin with that initial. Porters married into Park, Pegg, Pickering, Passand and Plimmer families, as well as a number of others. In Staffordshire these included names like Towers, Lovatt, Stevenson, Wilday, Ansell, Hodgson and Bullock, while in Shropshire there were links to Robinson, Russell, Jelly and Corfield, among others. The research is divided into three parts: A Preference for Ps - part 1 which introduces Harriet Porter and her ancestors in the Porter line as far as her paternal great-grandfather. A Preference for Ps - part 2 follows the rest of the Staffordshire lines and some of the family's emigration to Kansas, while A Preference for Ps - part 3 explores the maternal lines in Shropshire. An ancestor tree showing the links between the various lines can be found at Ancestors of Harriet Porter.
